Clan of the Year Award

Historically, clan associations in Singapore were set up for the welfare of their respective clan members. However, over time, this role has gradually been eroded. Clan associations today face challenges in survival and sustainability in the modern landscape. SFCCA’s mission is for our clan associations to be vibrant and lively. Clan associations have been redefining their role in society by supporting education and preserving traditional heritages.

In order to attract new blood into the clan associations to continue the works of their pioneers, clan associations have to grasp new opportunities and organise events that are relevant in the new societal landscape. To encourage clan associations to promote Chinese culture and heritage and make contributions to a harmonious society, SFCCA introduced the ‘Clan of the Year’ Award in 2011.
